Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 15, 2026

At SacTheRook, accessible from sactherook.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document describes the types of information that may be collected by SacTheRook and how it is used. If you have additional questions or require more information, don't hesitate to get in touch.

No personal data collection

SacTheRook is built to be a privacy-friendly, free tool. We do not require any user accounts, registrations, or logins to use our chess review services. We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information — such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers — from our users.

Games you paste or import (via PGN, FEN, or from Chess.com / Lichess) are analysed in your own browser using a local Stockfish engine. We don't run analysis on a server and we don't retain a copy of your games once you close or refresh the tab.

Log files

Like most standard websites, SacTheRook follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit the website. The information collected by log files may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring / exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. None of this is linked to anything personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analysing trends, administering the site, tracking visitor movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Cookies and third-party advertisements

We may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies (including vendors like Google) may use cookies, web beacons, or unique identifiers to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.

  • Google DART cookie: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Other ad networks: You may visit individual vendors' websites to opt out of cookies used for personalised advertising, where the vendor offers this option, or via aboutads.info.

If and when third-party advertising is active on this site, a cookie consent banner will be presented to you on your first visit so you can customise or deny tracking consent.

Privacy rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)

Because we do not collect or store personal data, we do not sell, rent, or trade user information. For visitors residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, any tracking performed by third-party ad networks (see above) is managed through a cookie consent mechanism where offered, allowing you to customise or deny consent to tracking.
